Cloro vs Oxylabs: one AI answer format vs cheaper scraping at scale

By Jean Luc Poitier, SEO and growth marketing strategist · Cloro Reviews · Updated October 3, 2026

Quick verdict

Oxylabs is a large scraping company whose Web Scraper API includes ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode and AI Overview scrapers, priced per successful result from $49 a month. Cloro covers the same engines plus Microsoft Copilot and returns them in one response format.

On price, Oxylabs is cheaper: Google results cost $1.00 per 1,000 on its $49 Micro plan and JavaScript-rendered results $1.35, against Cloro's $1.20 for Google and $2.00 to $2.80 for a ChatGPT answer on its $100 Hobby plan. One Cloro reviewer who tried both still prefers Cloro's parsing and says it is worth the extra cost.

Pick Oxylabs for lower per-result prices, proxies and other scraping targets in the same account. Pick Cloro if you want Copilot too, one format across engines, and a free allowance that refills every month.

Cloro vs Oxylabs on parsing

Both return AI answers with their cited sources as parsed JSON. Oxylabs runs them through the same Web Scraper API as its other targets, with parameters per source. Cloro is built only for search and AI answers, and every engine takes the same request shape. A reviewer who used both:

“I find Cloro much better than other tools I've tried like BrightData and Oxylabs for scraping ChatGPT responses.”Zeyad S., AI & Automations Manager, G2, March 2026

The same reviewer notes that Cloro is the more expensive of the two and calls it worth paying for, because fewer requests are wasted.

Cloro vs Oxylabs on price

Oxylabs bills per successful result, with a monthly plan that sets the rate: $49 buys up to 98,000 results on Micro, $99 up to 220,000 on Starter, and $249 up to 622,500 on Advanced. Google results cost $1.00 to $0.80 per 1,000 across those plans; JavaScript-rendered results, which its Gemini scraper uses by default, cost $1.35 to $1.25.

Cloro sells monthly credits, and each engine costs a set number of them: 3 for Google, 4 or 5 for Perplexity and Gemini, 5 to 7 for ChatGPT (async). On the $100 Hobby plan that is $1.20 per 1,000 Google searches and up to $2.80 per 1,000 ChatGPT answers. Neither offers pay as you go, and Oxylabs' own reviewers raise price as often as Cloro's do:

“It’s not the cheapest option out there.”Sapphire L., G2, September 2026

What Oxylabs reviews say

Oxylabs' review record splits the way most invited-review profiles do. In our October 3, 2026 pull of its 50 most recent Trustpilot reviews, the 36 invited ones averaged 4.86 and the 14 unprompted ones 3.0, with complaints mostly about proxies, account blocks and KYC checks rather than the scraper API. Its 50 most recent G2 reviews averaged 4.56. Cloro has no Trustpilot profile, so there is no like-for-like Trustpilot comparison.

Where Oxylabs wins

  • Lower per-result prices on every plan, for Google and for JavaScript-rendered pages
  • A larger one-off free trial (up to 2,000 results)
  • Proxies, datasets and hundreds of other scraping targets under one account
  • Higher rate limits (50 requests a second on paid plans)
